Painting is pretty straightforward, mixed about 40% flat back and 60% gloss black for the body. 

The decals are a bit tricky, the carbon fibre decals are a bit thick, wrapping them around the parts took alot of softener and time..

 

The steering wheels and brakes: 

One final thing to fix, the space for the brake lights is too big, have to narrow it down with a bit of plastic strip and putty:

I replaced the fabric seatbelts with paper, much easier to control.

The transparent part are the worst part in this kit, you have to trim the visor and light cover yourself! 

Finally all is done, next is putting the 2 halves together and the finish photo shoot

So after some hours of work, the sides are aligned.

Strangely Studio27 made a bit of mistake on the side, the "step" underneath the light should be alot shorter, as seen in the real thing:



 So a bit more modificatio and the sides are done (I'll leave the photos in later posts...). Once they are out of the way, it's time to work on the other details. The hole for the fuel tank lid is larger than what it supposed to be, and it's the same for both sides.

and because the lid sits at an angle in the hole, I can't just fill it and sand it flat. Luckily, the diameter of the lid is the same as a McDonald drinking straw, so I cut the straw at an angle, sealed the end with a plastic sheet and glue the whole thing on, once it's dried I can just fill the gap with putty and it's done.

and that's how it is afterwards.

The other part that needs a big fix is the exhaust plate, similar to the fuel intake, it's larger than the etched part, and has to be filled with putty.

Last but not least, the thinning a few spots: mainly the side skirt: 

the one at the back is yet to be thinned, makes quite a difference~

And the very thick rear fin......I'll leave the photos of the trimmed fin last.

Next will be applying the paint and decal!

So while the Back to the Future Time macine - the Delorean, is...............stuck at the present, might as well move onto something else. At the same time there's a Summer sale at the Studio27 online store, so I got something that I was interested some time ago....

The Nissan DeltaWing from 2012 Le Mans series. Actually Nissan supplied the engine only, the car was designed by Ben Bowlby under the constructor Dan Gurney's All American Racers. Unlike other race cars which had wings all over, the DeltaWing has none. Giving a sleek and almost Batman-ish look.

There isn't alot of part, the top and bottom, the seat,  cockpit instructments, and some metal parts.

 Studio27 did a very good job at seperating the parts, at the same spot as the real car is, so no nightmares about sticking them together first then paint. The only problem, the top and bottom part don't line up well. Can't blame them since it's resin.

 The good thing is the top and bottom are connected by 3 screws, this should be relatively easy to fix.
