BMW Z4 GT3 Miku Hatsune - 1/24 Fujimi (2)

Apart from removing the front and rear grill, there's nothing much left on the body to modify, so I took my time priming the body and the interior parts.

Then the photo etch parts arrived, it's my first time using them so it's a kind of new experience. I have came across photo etch parts before, but it's only a 1 or 2 piece and not a whole sheet of them.

As a start I thought it will be better to prime them first...
This proves to be a not-so-good idea as in later stages I have to rub the primer off to let the metal shine in it's orginal state (the brake discs...)

Next I begin working on the base, the photo etch parts includes replacement for the rear air diffuser, so off goes the molded ones:
The groves are the location of the diffusers, this will make putting the photo etch parts on a bit easier, orginally I plan to glue the diffusers onto the groves, but it proves to be too diffucult and is not strong enough, so in the end I secure them with the help of some L rods.

Now onto the base, the part where the diffuser meets the base doesn't exactly match the real car, and now with the rear grill removed it will be a very obvious flaw, so........off it came:

put the orginal diffuser piece back on, fill in the corners....

and it's done!

Finally the photo etch pieces can go on, of coz on the original car those were not held by L-rods, but it's the best option Ive got, and it's on the underside so it's basically out of sight

And a picture for comparison to the actual car...

The rear part of the base is done, next up: the front!
